Information for Parents and Carers
Parents and carers play an important role in helping young people explore opportunities and make informed decisions. We provide information through the website, Unifrog, parent communications, information evenings, careers events and individual support.
How you can support
- Talk regularly about interests, strengths, subjects and possible next steps.
- Encourage your child to explore a range of pathways rather than focusing on one option too early.
- Attend open evenings, careers fairs and information events where possible.
- Help your child prepare for work experience, applications and interviews.
- Use reliable careers and labour market information together.
- Contact the careers team where further information or support is needed.
Key decision points
- Year 9: GCSE option choices
- Years 10-11: post-16 choices, applications and work experience
- Years 12-13: university, higher education, apprenticeships, employment and other post-18 routes
