Careers at Wigston Academies Trust

At Wigston Academies Trust, we want every student to develop the knowledge, skills, experiences and confidence needed to make informed and ambitious decisions about their future.

Our careers programme runs from Year 7 to Year 13 and supports students as they explore their interests, understand the opportunities available to them and prepare for their next steps. The programme includes careers learning, encounters with employers and education providers, workplace experiences, labour market information and access to impartial personal careers guidance.

Our aims

  • Provide a clear and progressive careers programme from Year 7 to Year 13.
  • Help students understand the full range of academic, technical, vocational, apprenticeship and employment pathways.
  • Increase meaningful encounters with employers, employees, universities, colleges and training providers.
  • Help students connect curriculum learning with future careers and employability skills.
  • Support every student to make a successful and sustained transition into education, employment or training.
  • Use labour market information to help students understand local and national opportunities.
